Many-body approximations to the superfluid gap and critical temperature in pure neutron matter

چکیده

We compute singlet pairing gaps and critical temperatures in pure neutron matter with different many-body approximations. Medium effects tend to reduce compared the standard BCS ansatz. In mean-field approximation, ratio of these two quantities remains constant across a wide range densities. This is close universal prediction theory, whether three-neutron interactions are included or not. Using more sophisticated approach that incorporates effect short-range correlations properties, we find gap temperature low-density regime substantially larger than prediction, independently interaction. this region, our results relatively experiments theoretical calculations from unitary Fermi gas. also evidence for density dependence zero-temperature matter.

1S0 Superfluid phase transition in neutron matter with realistic nuclear potentials and modern many-body theories.

The 1S0 pairing in neutron matter is studied using realistic two- and three-nucleon interactions. The auxiliary field diffusion Monte Carlo method and correlated basis function theory are employed to get quantitative and reliable estimates of the gap. The two methods are in good agreement up to the maximum gap density and both point to a slight reduction with respect to the standard BCS value. ...

Microscopic many-body theory of nuclei and neutron star matter

We review the recent progress in application of microscopic many-body theory, based on realistic twoand threenucleon interactions, to nuclei and neutron star matter. Modern models of nuclear interactions are discussed along with quantum Monte Carlo methods used to calculate nuclear and nucleon matter properties. Essentially exact Green’s function Monte Carlo calculations have been successfully ...

Many-body Theory of Nuclear and Neutron Star Matter

We present results obtained for nuclei, nuclear and neutron star matter, and neutron star structure obtained with the recent Argonne v18 twonucleon and Urbana IX three-nucleon interactions including relativistic boost corrections. These interactions predict that matter will undergo a transition to a spin layered phase with neutral pion condensation. We also consider the possibility of a transit...

Superfluid phase transitions in dense neutron matter.

The phase transitions in a realistic system with triplet pairing, dense neutron matter, have been investigated. The spectrum of phases of the 3P2-3F2 model, which adequately describes pairing in this system, is analytically constructed with the aid of a separation method for solving BCS gap equations in states of arbitrary angular momentum. In addition to solutions involving a single value of t...

Temperature-dependent pulsations of superfluid neutron stars

We examine radial oscillations of superfluid neutron stars at finite internal temperatures. For this purpose, we generalize the description of relativistic superfluid hydrodynamics to the case of superfluid mixtures. We show that in a neutron star, at hydrostatic and beta-equilibrium, the redshifted temperature gradient is smoothed out by neutron superfluidity (but not by proton superfluidity)....
